By arguing that it is, I place Rawls’s understanding of the deontological nature of his theory of justice in the context of the history of the notion of deontology. I argue that Rawls’s understanding of deontology is based on the choice of (inter)personal relations as the proper subject of ethics. To explicate this idea I draw on Rawls’s senior thesis A Brief Inquiry into the Meaning of Sin and Faith: An Interpretation based on the Concept of Community (1942).}, type={Artykuły / Articles}, title={Is Rawls’s ‘justice as fairness’ deontological?}, URL={http://www.czasopisma.pan.pl/Content/121750/PDF/2021-04-PFIL-12-Kedziora.pdf}, doi={10.24425/pfns.2021.138982}, keywords={deontology, J.
