Abstract

The Jurassic period is symbolized by large reptiles that dominated the land and seas. The most recent paleontological findings indicate that the territory of Poland was inhabited by several groups of large marine animals.

Abstract

The Bulletin of the Polish Academy of Sciences: Technical Sciences (Bull.Pol. Ac.: Tech.) is published bimonthly by the Division IV Engineering Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences, since the beginning of the existence of the PAS in 1952. The journal is peer‐reviewed and is published both in printed and electronic form. Fossils are a source of great interest, even fascination. They offer evidence of the past existence of living things, somewhat different from life as we know it today. Yet not many fossil-hunters realize that these traces of a bygone past are often a source of radiation.

Skamieniałości wzbudzają ogromne zainteresowanie, wręcz fascynację. Są dowodem istnienia dawnego życia, nieco innego niż obecne. Szukając śladów dawno minionej przyrody, nie zdajemy sobie sprawy, że skamieliny mogą być źródłem promieniowania.
