The aim of this paper is to look at the quantitative dimension of public space resources in Polish cities, a comparative analysis of these resources, determining the share of public space in the urban spatial structure and referring this structure to European cities. The concept of ‘public space resources’ has been introduced, and is defined as those areas in the city that fulfill or can fulfill the functions of public space. This concept, and then the proposal of its operationalization, aimed to draw attention to the spatial and physical aspects of public space, which would allow to broaden and supplement social approaches in the study of public space. The quantitative approach to public space proposed in the paper also enabled a comparative research to assess the role of public space in the structure of Polish cities in a more objective manner and refer it to European cities.
In the article, the significance and essence of management of intelligent manufacturing in
the era of the fourth industrial revolution has been presented. The current revolution has
a large impact on the operation of the company. Through the changes resulting from the
application of modern technologies, production processes are also undergoing revolutions,
which results in changes in such indicators of business development. Management of intelligent
manufacturing is also a challenge for socially responsible activities; due to solutions of
Industry 4.0, enterprises directly and indirectly influence environmental protection, which
results in benefits for all mankind. In the article, the analysis and assessment of management
of intelligent manufacturing, using modern technologies during the production process,
has been carried out, with particular emphasis on the components of management such as:
monitoring, control, autonomy, optimization. Moreover, the impact of the above components
of management on changes in the following indicators (KPI – Key Performance Indictors)
has been evaluated, i.e. (1) quality, (2) rapidity of the production process implementation,
(3) performance and (4) productivity, (5) decrease in waste generated during the technological
process and (6) amount of consumed electricity. For the purposes of conducting the
research, a case study has been used, developed due to the information shared by the company
manufacturing machinery and equipment for the polymer processing industry, in which
intelligent solutions of Industry 4.0 are being applied. The presented article is a significant
contribution to the current development of knowledge in the field of implementing Industry
4.0 solutions for polymer processing. The article is a combination of theoretical and practical
knowledge in the field of management and practical industrial applications. It refers to the
most current research trends.
In this paper our results of investigation on a pump power combiner in a configuration of 7×1 are presented. The performed combiner, with pump power of 80–85% transmission level, was successfully applied in a thulium doped fibre laser. The performed all-fibre laser setup reached a total CW output power of 6.42 W, achieving the efficiency on a 32.1% level
In the case of mining machines, tribocorrosion damage is often observed. This type of consumption is caused by the joint action of mining environment factors such as abrasive and water. The search for methods to counteract tribocorrosion is of great practical importance, but it must be combined with the knowledge of methods of forecasting the value of wear. This paper presents a model of prediction of tribocorrosive wear adapted to corrodible materials – ADI containing Ni and Cu, with the strength class of 800 MPa – and results of a two-stage study on the tribocorrosive wear. Presented results indicate a distinct effect of synergy between friction and corrosion in the total wear of ADI. The tribocorrosion tests confimed the adequacy of the model developed for the ADI.
