Abstract

The article explores megatrends in management, related to the transition to digital technologies in all spheres of the economy and production in the COVID-19 pandemic. The main contribution to the analysis of the current state of digitalization HR in business. The possibilities of a set of processes and methods of interaction with information in the formation of a strategy of people’s management, are investigated. This is achieved through the use of integrated mobile applications and the automation of HR processes. From the results, the methodology for determining the severity of competences, indicators of behavior are proposed, the strengths and weaknesses of the company’s staff management system in the COVID-19 conditions are taken into account. The practical usability of work is due to the proposed competency-based approach, which makes it possible to increase the efficiency of personnel selection, taking into account key macro-competencies that find an applied form through appropriate behavioral indicators.

Abstract

The flow-induced noise mechanism of a 5000 rpm high-speed gear pump is explored. On the basis of the CFD technology and the Lighthill acoustic analogy theory, a numerical model of the flow-induced noise of a high-speed gear pump is constructed, and the effect of oil suction pressure (0.1–0.2 MPa) on the internal flow field and flow-induced noise characteristics of the high-speed gear pump is investigated. To evaluate the accuracy of the numerical simulation, a noise testing platform for high-speed gear pumps was developed. Adding an oil replenishment groove to the high-speed gear pump suppresses its flow-induced noise. The results indicate that the discrete noise at the fundamental frequency and its harmonic frequency is the primary component of the flow-induced noise of the pump and that the oil-trapped area is the principal source of vibration. The overall sound pressure level of flow-induced noise in the inlet and outlet areas decreases with distance from the oil-trapped area, and the sound pressure level in the outlet area is greater than that in the inlet area. The oil replenishment groove may considerably minimize cavitation noise, enhance the oil absorption capacity, and reduce the outer field’s overall sound pressure level by 4–5 dB.

Abstract

Apart from medical care, medical biological equipment or physical environment biggest impact on our health has our behaviours. According to the Functional Health Model (FMZ) H. Wrony-Polańskiej (2003), pro-health behavior is conditioned by the availability of cognitive and behavioral resources, among which the sense of coherence plays an important role. Aim of the study was assessment of dependence between the sense of coherence and health behaviors of studying students. The study involved 245 second and third year students studying in humanities and science. The study was used the M. Ziarko Health Behavior Questionnaire and the A. Antonovsky SOC-29 Life Guidance Questionnaire. Research analysis has confirmed that there is a statistically significant relationship between health behaviors and the sense of coherence and its components: comprehensibility, manageability and meaningfulness. On the basis of the research conducted and based on the Functional Health Model it can be concluded that an important practical direction is to develop from a young age in healthy children and adolescents a special emphasis on the development of this resource.

Abstract

The article reviews current substantive law regarding mortgage on ships under construction.

According to Polish Maritime code, mortgage on ships under construction may take form either of standard ship mortgage or ship mortgage accompanied with acollateral deed. The author discusses also recent amendments to the Polish Law on Land Registers and Mortgage, passed in 2009 and in force since 2011, as these may influence ship mortgage. Furthermore, since there is notable interconnection between ship mortgage and registered lien on ship parts and equipment to be fitted on board, the article also covers Law on Registered Lien and Register of Liens.

The author advocates amendments aiming for improved effectiveness of regulations on ship mortgage.

Abstract

The study presented here offers an analysis of the heat flow through the wall of the Yankee cylinder when regarded as a thin-walled vessel. The effect of the selected design and process parameters (i.e. cylinder diameter and steam pressure) on density of the heating stream has been analyzed and discussed for both cast iron and steel cylinders. Based on the work presented here, the optimal ranges for steam pressure have been derived and proposed for cylinders mounted at various locations within the drying section.

Abstract

I n t r o d u c t i o n: Peripheral arterial occlusive disease (PAOD) is a disease with worldwide increasing occurrence. Diabetic patients are greatly exposed on the risk of PAOD and its complications. The aim of the study was to check the influence of preoperative HbA1C on the outcomes of patients with diabetes undergoing PAOD related endovascular treatment.

M a t e r i a l a n d Me t h o d s: The study was conducted among 59 patients with PAOD referred from the diabetic foot outpatient for endovascular treatment. They were included in one-year observation based on follow-up visits in 1, 3, 6 and 12 months after angioplasty and divided into 2 groups basing on their preoperative glycaemia. Th e clinical condition of the lower limbs was assessed by use of the Rutherford classification, ankle-brachial index (ABI) and toe-brachial index (TBI). Changes in patients’ quality of life (QoL) were also evaluated.

R e s u l t s: Reintervention within 12 months were less frequent in patients with HbA1C ≤8.0% than in HbA1C >8.0% patients (9.09% vs. 35.48%, p = 0.03). TBI of the treated limb was lower in patients with elevated than in patients with proper glycaemia at 6 month [0.2 (0.0–0.38) vs. 0.38 (0.31–0.46); p <0.008] and 12 month follow-up [0.17 (0.0–0.27) vs. 0.32 (0.25–0.38); p <0,001]. The rate of healed ulcerations after 6 months was higher in patients HbA1C ≤8.0% (45.0% vs. 16.13%; p = 0.02) and they had significantly greater improvement of QoL.

C on c l u s i o n: Results of this study shows that preoperative level of glycaemia is an important factor for long-term prognosis in diabetic patients with PAOD. Elevated HbA1C level decreases significantly long-term improvement of QoL in DM patients undergoing endovascular treatment.
